Vesicular Stomatitis positively diagnosed in AZ

It has been announced that Vesicular Stomatitis has been positively diagnosed in AZ. As a result, Florida State Veterinarian, Dr. Thomas Holt has sent the attached announcement of movement restrictions for all hoofed animals from AZ to Dr. John Hunt, Acting Arizona State Veterinarian. Also attached is the press release from Arizona Department of Agriculture. Please forward or pass out this information as necessary. Please advise those you know traveling with livestock to AZ of this outbreak and the movement restrictions. Emergency restrictions include:
- For all hoofed animals, the Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (OCVI) must be dated within 5 days of entry
- OCVI must include a VS statement (see attached letter to Dr. Hunt)
- Prior permit number must be included on OCVI – Permit number obtained by calling 850-410-0959
- Florida origin livestock will be allowed re-entry, but will be under quarantine until inspected 14-21 after re-entry into FL.
