Dear Fellow FAEP Members:
The Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners wish to inform you of changes that we have made within our organization. In order to further our organization and to foster its future growth the Board has asked our 2008 President, Dr. Craig Roberts, to lead the organization as our Interim Executive Director during this time of change. Dr. Roberts resigned from his President’s position and agreed to assume the role of Interim Executive Director for a maximum of one (1) year. The entire board feels very fortunate that Dr. Roberts’ unique practice situation affords him some time to assume this temporary role under our leadership. During this time, Dr. Roberts will spend significant time evaluating our organizational structure and reporting directly to the Board exactly what skill sets, time and investment are truly required to keep the FAEP strong, growing, and best serving its members. This will allow the Board to evaluate this crucial information and enable selection of a qualified applicant in the near future. An Executive Director Search Committee has been formed from amongst the Board of Directors and we hope to begin advertising this position very soon.
We do not expect this organizational change to have a negative impact on our organization in any way. On the contrary, this change is being made to help strengthen our relationships with the Industry Council and membership alike. 2009 is going to be an exciting year with our 5th annual Promoting Excellence Symposium, our second Foot/Farrier Symposium, a fall wet lab, the University of Florida Student Appreciation Day, working hand in hand with the FVMA regarding political issues that affect equine veterinarians, strengthening of our relationship with the AAEP, as well as exploring some partnership activities with the North American Veterinary Conference. As you can see, this will be a busy and exciting year for us as we continue to grow in many areas and as we continue to work to serve you, our members.
